Weekly roundup 2
This week the blog had a post by Wayne Joubert on code editors and a post by Ondřej Čertík on archiving data on paper. Wayne and Ondřej worked at one point for Los Alamos National Labs, though not at the same time.
I wrote posts this week on finite differences, normal subgroups, and differential equations blowing up.
I also wrote three closely related posts: applications of Friedman’s index of coincidence, estimating an author’s vocabulary, and Weaver’s surprise index. The post on index of coincidence is high-level, with no equations. The post on surprise index is much more technical.
Thank you for following me here on Substack. If you’d like to hear from me more than once a week, look for my Notes here or follow me on Twitter.
Have a good weekend.
