NVIDIA, National Labs, and a Chess Puzzle
Private and public supercomputers; Non-attacking pieces.
Wayne Joubert wrote a post about his experience working with Nvidia at Oak Ridge National Labs.
Earlier this year Wayne wrote about Nvidia (indirectly) and the National Labs in his comparison of Colossus and El Capitan. Colossus is the supercomputer xAI uses to train its models, and El Capitan is Lawrence Livermore National Labs’ supercomputer, the fastest computer in the world by some metrics. Colossus uses Nvidia GPUs and El Capitan uses AMD.
This morning I posted another chess puzzle, similar to puzzles I posted earlier this year. This time the challenge is to place all eight pieces on a 6 by 5 chessboard, with bishops on opposite colored squares, so that no piece attacks any other.
Enjoy. Have a good week.
